ARTIST RESIDENCY

IMPORTANT :

  • Please note that the "Artist Residency" is not a pottery training course, but rather a period dedicated to working on independent artistic projects.

  • If you are interested in an apprenticeship in ceramics, please send me an email. A sufficient command of the English language is necessary to be able to communicate with other artists from all over the world.

The artistic residency is more like a retreat. There are no requirements for the artist at the end of the residency. You just need to be here and allow the surrounding beauty to inspire you.

Pottery Farm Gallery is an artist haven, offering residencies for potters, writers, filmmakers, visual artists, designers, photographers, musicians, researchers and all other types of creative practitioners. Residents live and work on the farm and are free to discover the surrounding area.

Length of residency: residencies are self-funded, self-directed and can last up to 2 weeks. We accept applications all year round.

A private double room (to sleep and work) is available near a shared bathroom (maximum four other residents).

There is also a shared kitchen, two sitting rooms as well as plenty of space in the grounds to relax and work.

Expectations of the artist: As this is a self-funded residency, the only expectation is that the artist will work on their project for the majority of their residency and maintain the running of the house and wood fire during the colder months.

We hope that this supportive environment, without the pressure to produce, will encourage creativity, experimentation and the development of new ideas. PFG offers all creative practitioners a change of pace and the space to create.

Accommodation: the large farmhouse is set on a hillside with 360° views of rolling hills and the entire Pyrenées mountain range. There are five spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, two lounges and a large kitchen with a log fire that heats the whole house, complemented by a heat pump.

Disciplines, work equipment and assistance: artists are responsible for their own equipment. Unless by special request, equipment or access to the ceramics studio may be arranged depending on availability.

Studio / work space : each artist has their own spacious room with a desk and shares the living rooms and fully equipped kitchen. There are various spaces around the farm to work, the gallery, the pigeon loft/office, outside in the grounds or the ceramics studio (when available).

Rate : €700/person (plus €30 banking fees) for 2 weeks, which includes full use of the house with all the amenities for a two-week residency. A deposit of 50% is required upon application acceptance and the rest of the payment must be made 2 weeks prior to the start of the residency.

Applications : all applications are welcome.
